About Rhianon
Rhianon Hatcher is an Indianapolis native who has always had a love and appreciation of music. She began singing in her church choir at a young age at Greater Gethsemine Missionary Baptist Church. Rhianon began playing flute at the age of eleven, and has continued her efforts as a flutist and piccolo player. Rhianon attended Arlington High School, under the mentorship of Dr. Jackie Greenwood where she developed and honed her vocal skills by singing in Arlington's Madrigal Choir, Jazz and Classical groups. She also played flute in the Arlington Marching Band and received private flute lessons to augment her instrumental skills.
Rhianon had a passion to continue her career in music after high school. She was accepted at Indiana University where she studied music under the renowned Dr. James E. Mumford. While at IU, Rhianon's main goal was to deucate herself so she would be able to teach students in the are of music for all ages. Outside of the IU School of Music, Rhianon was involved in Ladies First; a spin off of Bloomington's own "Straight No Chase", the famous male acapella group that is currently touring the nation. She also sang in the IU Soul Revue; a music group consisting of IU students who perform the soul hits of then and now. Rhianon also sang with the African American Chorale Ensemble. With her busy schedule Rhianon still made time to teach voice lessons at Indiana University.
After graduating from Indiana University Rhianon still continues her passion for music.
Rhianon has been a finalist in the WXIN Fox 59 Indy Idol contest (Indy's version of American Idol). She loves to spend time with her family, solve puzzles, enjoys bowling, and as always creating music in her spare time.
Rhianon is currently working diligently on her own gospel album. She continues her dream of teaching music to people of all ages and she is excited to share her passion for music by developing and enhancing the musical skills of the students at Bongo Boy Music School.
