WHAT IS STRUM CIRCLE?
Inspired by our popular Community Drum Circle, Strum Circle is a FREE loosely structured jam session open to all ages. Each week, our facilitators will lead the group over various progressions and grooves, with open room for solos for whoever wants to take them. Easy charts and chord diagrams will be provided for different skill levels, but reading music is not required. Backing tracks and/or live percussion will also accompany each session.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
All you’ll need to bring is your acoustic or electric guitar, and a small amplifier if you’d like to use your own. Up to 10 small amps will be available, and acoustic guitars are
available to rent for $5. Bass, mandolin, ukulele, fiddle, and other stringed instruments are
welcome to join in, too, but you’ll need to know some basic scales and chords if you plan on
playing an instrument other than guitar.
FOR BEGINNERS AND FIRST-TIME PLAYERS:
Strum Circle was designed specifically with you in mind! We have specially prepared guitars that only require strumming open strings, which is just as easy as hitting a drum. If you own a guitar but don’t know how to play, we can also set yours up the same way. During the first few minutes of each session, our facilitators will take you through some basics, and you’ll be
jamming along with everyone else in no time!
***You MUST bring your own Guitar (Acoustic or Electric), Guitar Cable and Amp to each class.
